Data deletion requests

To have your personal data deleted, email care@amicikart.com with the subject line "Delete my data". Include your full name, your mobile number with country code, any email address you have used with us, and an order, warranty or return reference if you have one. If you have messaged us on WhatsApp you can send the same request on that conversation instead.

We acknowledge within 2 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying that the request is yours. This is permanent deletion, not a temporary deactivation or pause. Full details, including exactly what we delete and the records we are legally required to keep, are in "How to request deletion of your personal data" at the end of this policy.

This applies to amicikart.com, the amiciSmart app, our WhatsApp care line, and our AdPilot platform (Meta app ID 1412741086738658) covering Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business.

How to request deletion of your personal data

This section explains how to ask us to delete your personal data, exactly what we delete, what we have to keep and why, and how long it takes. It applies to the online store at amicikart.com, the amiciSmart smart-home app on Google Play, our WhatsApp care line, and AdPilot (Meta app ID 1412741086738658), the in-house marketing and customer-support platform we use for our own store on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business. You do not need an account, you do not need to sign in, and you do not need to install or reinstall any app to make a request.

Ask us to delete your data

Email care@amicikart.com with the subject line "Delete my data".

  1. Send the email to care@amicikart.com. Where you can, send it from the email address registered with us — it makes verification quicker.
  2. Use the subject line "Delete my data". If your request is only about the amiciSmart app, use "Delete my amiciSmart account". If it is only about data that reached us through WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, use "Delete my Meta data".
  3. Tell us who you are. Include your full name, the mobile number you gave us with country code (for India, +91 followed by your 10-digit number), every email address you have used with us, and one order number, warranty number or return reference if you have one. We need these because our records are keyed to your phone number, your email address and your order references — not to a single account ID.
  4. Tell us what you want deleted — everything we hold, or only specific items. See the next section.
  5. Confirm the request is yours. We will reply asking you to confirm from the registered mobile number or email address, or to confirm a detail only you would know, such as a recent order. We do this so nobody else can delete your data.

Prefer WhatsApp? If you have messaged us on WhatsApp before, you can send the same request by replying on that same conversation — write "DELETE MY DATA" and include the details above. Requests sent by WhatsApp and by email are handled in exactly the same way. We recommend email, because it gives you a written record and a reference number.

Please note: there is no self-service delete button and no automated deletion tool. Every request is carried out by a person on our team across our systems. That is why we ask for the details above, and why we give the timeframe further down.

Which products and services this section covers

  • amiciSmart — our smart-home app, published on Google Play by Amicikart Online Services Private Limited, and the connected amiciSmart / amiciTech devices and cloud services. Step-by-step instructions for deleting an amiciSmart account are in the amiciSmart section further down.
  • amicikart.com — your customer account and orders, the Amico chat assistant on the website, warranty registration, review requests, return pickups and business enquiries.
  • Our WhatsApp care line and WhatsApp messages — support conversations, order and delivery updates, and marketing messages.
  • AdPilot (Meta app ID 1412741086738658) — the platform we use to run our own marketing and support on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business. It is used only by our own staff. Customers do not have accounts on AdPilot and do not sign in to it.

Delete everything, or delete only some things

What you want What we do Subject line
Delete my whole account and all my data We close your customer account and remove everything listed under "What we delete", apart from the items listed under "What we cannot delete, and why". Delete my data
Delete only specific data, keep my account We delete only what you name. For example: your website chat transcripts, your WhatsApp conversation with us, photos or files you uploaded, your warranty registration, your return pickup address, your review request record, or the quotes from your messages that we kept as internal examples. Delete specific data
Stop marketing messages, keep my account and order history This is not a deletion. Reply STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to any of our WhatsApp marketing messages, or email us. We stop marketing to you and add your number to our do-not-contact list. Stop marketing

This is permanent deletion, not a pause

We do not offer deactivation, disabling or freezing as a substitute for deletion. Once we have deleted your data we cannot restore it and the request cannot be undone. The only exceptions are the records listed under "What we cannot delete, and why", and copies inside our automated backups, which are not used to restore individual customer records and are overwritten as the backup cycle rolls over. If you shop with us again you will start with a new, empty record. Deleting a warranty registration also removes our record of your cover, and we may not be able to honour a later claim without it.

Before you ask us to delete everything

Deletion is difficult to complete while something is still open. Please check whether you have:

  • an order that has not been delivered yet;
  • a return, replacement or repair pickup in progress;
  • a refund that has not reached you;
  • an open warranty registration or claim, or a certificate we have not issued yet;
  • an open support ticket or complaint with us.

You do not have to work this out on your own. If any of these is open, we will tell you which one, and help you complete or cancel it first — reply to our email or on WhatsApp and we will handle it with you. If you want us to delete your data anyway, say so and we will proceed, but we may then be unable to complete that order, refund, return or warranty claim.

What we delete

When you ask us to delete everything, we remove the following from our own systems.

  • Your customer record — name, mobile number, email address, delivery city and state, customer tags, marketing consent status, and the purchase summary we build from your orders (number of orders, amounts, average order value, first and last order dates, the products and SKUs you bought).
  • Our copy of your orders — order value, discount, payment method, delivery and return status, plus the advertising identifiers attached to the order: Google and Meta click IDs, UTM source, medium and campaign, the landing page you arrived on, and the anonymous visitor ID our website beacon set in your browser.
  • Website chat with Amico — the full text of every message you typed and every reply we sent, images and files you uploaded in the chat, the products and pages you were looking at, your device and browser string, your session rating and any comment you left, and the record of actions the assistant took for you, such as a delivery address change, a cancellation request, or a discount code issued to you.
  • Older website chats — transcripts and the name, email address, phone number and marketing consent flag imported from the chat provider we used before Amico.
  • WhatsApp support conversations — your phone number and WhatsApp profile name, the text of messages in both directions, images and documents you sent, our internal classification and escalation notes, any English translation we made of a message in another language, and any recording and transcript of a WhatsApp voice call with us.
  • WhatsApp order updates and marketing messages — our send log: your number and name, order number, courier, tracking number and link, the message text that was sent, the WhatsApp message identifier, its delivery status and its cost.
  • Browsing and cart activity we linked to you — product pages viewed, cart and checkout records from our store, the abandonment journeys that were triggered for you, your segment memberships and lifecycle stage.
  • Warranty registration — name, mobile number, email address, the details we read from your uploaded purchase invoice, the one-time passwords we sent you, and our stored copy of the warranty certificate. The invoice file you uploaded is proof of purchase and is treated separately — please read the retention section below.
  • Review requests — your name, mobile number, email address, the product, the personalised review link, follow-up attempts and notes, and our cached copy of the reviewer name and review text if you left a review.
  • Return pickups — pickup address, phone number, landmark, preferred date, the return reason and any notes, tracking numbers and courier responses, the one-time passwords, and the quality-check and disposition notes.
  • Business and bulk enquiries — contact name, phone number, email address, company, city and state, requirement and internal notes, where the enquiry has not been invoiced.
  • What our AI systems learned from your messages — saved question-and-answer pairs, knowledge-gap entries, quality-audit findings including the conversation excerpts kept as evidence, and the verbatim quotes from your messages that we kept as internal examples, together with the link back to your chat session.
  • Files you uploaded — chat images, call recordings and review screenshots held in our file storage, and the warranty invoice you uploaded where we are not required to keep it as proof of purchase.

We do not give your contact details to advertising platforms. We do not upload customer lists to Meta or Google, and we do not use custom audience or customer match uploads, so there is no advertising list to remove you from.

What we cannot delete, and why

We would rather tell you this plainly than promise a clean sweep we cannot deliver.

  • Tax, accounting and invoice records. Invoices, credit notes, GST and tax filings, invoice numbers, and for business customers the GST number and PAN on the invoice. This also covers the purchase invoice you uploaded with a warranty registration, because it is the evidence of purchase and of your warranty cover. We keep these for as long as Indian tax and company law requires, currently up to eight years from the end of the relevant financial year.
  • The underlying order, and your customer record, on our store platform. We delete our own copy of your order and of your customer details. The order itself is a purchase and tax record, and the customer record attached to it is kept by the store platform as part of that record, for the period above.
  • Records in our helpdesk, CRM and accounting systems. Escalated chats, return pickups, warranty registrations and review leads also exist as a ticket or record in the helpdesk, CRM and accounting systems operated for us by Zoho Corporation Private Limited, which is also the provider behind our WhatsApp care line and holds the authoritative copy of that conversation thread. We pass your request on and delete what is not needed as a tax or dispute record, but these are separate systems and can take longer than our own database.
  • Records held by our former chat provider. Website conversations from before we moved to Amico were handled by another chat provider, which may still hold its own copy. We delete the copy we imported and pass your request on, but their records are governed by their own policies.
  • Messages already delivered, and Meta's own copy. A WhatsApp message already delivered to your phone cannot be recalled, and Meta keeps its own copy of messages carried over WhatsApp under its own policies. The same applies to a comment or reply on a Facebook or Instagram post, which lives on the post and is held by Meta.
  • Documents already sent to you or shared by link. Warranty certificates, invoices, quotations and review screenshots are served from links that can be opened by anyone who has the link. We delete our stored file, but a copy already delivered to you by WhatsApp or email, or cached by a mail provider, a messaging app or a search engine, cannot be recalled. Please treat any such link you hold as public.
  • Reviews you published. A review you posted on a review platform or a marketplace belongs to that platform and to you. We delete our cached copy; you can remove the live review through the platform where you posted it.
  • Courier records. The shipment or reverse-pickup manifest, which carries the delivery or pickup address and phone number, is held by the courier company under its own retention rules.
  • Your marketing opt-out record. If you have told us to stop marketing, we keep your phone number and the date you opted out, and nothing else. That single record is what stops our systems from messaging you again; if we deleted it, marketing could resume. You can ask us to delete it as well, but then we cannot guarantee that you will not be contacted again.
  • Text already sent to our AI providers. To answer you, the text of your message is sent to the AI model providers we use to generate and review replies, including Anthropic PBC and OpenAI, L.L.C. Our own AI cost logs record only which function ran, which model, how many tokens and the cost — they do not store your message text. Whatever a provider retains under its own policy is governed by that provider.
  • Anonymised and aggregated analytics. Counts, totals and trends that no longer identify anyone cannot be reversed or unpicked. Where we kept a verbatim quote from one of your messages as an internal example, we remove the quote on request; the count it contributed to stays.
  • Automated backups. Our database is backed up automatically. Deleted records can remain in those backups until the backup cycle rolls over. Backups are not used to restore individual customer records, and they are overwritten in the normal cycle.

How long we take, and how you know it is done

  • We acknowledge your request within 2 working days and give you a reference number.
  • We verify that the request is yours, usually on the day you reply to us.
  • We complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity.
  • If something open on your account (an undelivered order, a pickup, a refund) means we need longer, we tell you why and give you a new date.
  • We email you a confirmation when it is done, listing what was deleted and anything we had to keep, with the reason.
  • Backups roll over after that, as described above.

If you contacted us on WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram

This section is for people whose data reached us through Meta platforms. It covers our app AdPilot, Meta app ID 1412741086738658, operated by Amicikart Online Services Private Limited for our own store on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business. If you removed our app under Facebook Settings > Apps and Websites > Removed and were sent here, this is the section you want. You can request deletion here even though you have already disconnected from us. You do not need a Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp account, and you do not need to sign in anywhere, to make the request.

What we hold from these platforms

  • WhatsApp support conversations — your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name, the text of messages in both directions, images and documents you sent, our internal notes and classification, and any recording and transcript of a WhatsApp voice call to our care line.
  • WhatsApp messages we sent you — order and delivery updates, warranty one-time passwords and certificates, review requests and marketing messages, together with the message text, the WhatsApp message identifier, the delivery status and the cost in our send log.
  • Your messaging consent state — whether you agreed to marketing messages and whether you have opted out.
  • Facebook and Instagram comments and messages — our platform is able to read comments on our own ads and posts and to reply to them, but it does not currently keep any commenter name, comment text or reply in our systems, and we do not keep a copy of Facebook or Instagram messages in our systems either. Those comments, replies and messages live on Facebook and Instagram and are held by Meta. You can delete your own comment on the post yourself at any time. If that ever changes, the request route in this section will cover it.

Marketing messages and how to stop them

We do send marketing messages on WhatsApp, not only order updates — promotions, and reminders when a cart or checkout is left unfinished. Reply STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to any of them and we stop. We then keep only your phone number and the opt-out date, so that our systems never message you again.

How to have this data removed

  1. Email care@amicikart.com with the subject "Delete my Meta data", or reply with the same request on an existing WhatsApp conversation with our care line.
  2. Include the phone number you used on WhatsApp, in international format, and your WhatsApp profile name. If your request is about a Facebook or Instagram comment or message, include the profile name you used and, if you can, a link to the post.
  3. We reply within 2 working days with a reference number, confirm the request is yours, and complete the deletion promptly and in any case within 30 days. We email you when it is done.

What we cannot remove: Meta's own copy of anything carried over WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, and any message already delivered to your phone. Those are governed by Meta's policies. We also keep the minimal opt-out record described above if you have asked us to stop marketing.

We do not send your name, email address or phone number to Meta or to Google for advertising, and we do not upload customer lists to either platform.

Service providers who process data for us

We use a small number of companies to run these services on our behalf, under contract and on our instructions. They include:

  • Google LLC — application hosting and infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform), and the AI models that draft most of our chat replies (India and USA).
  • Supabase, Inc. — our database and file storage (India, Mumbai region, and USA).
  • Anthropic PBC — AI models used to generate and review replies (USA).
  • OpenAI, L.L.C. — AI models used to generate and review replies (USA).
  • Z.ai (Zhipu AI) — a standby AI model provider. It is used only when our main AI providers are unavailable, so that a customer waiting for an answer still gets one. Processed outside India.
  • Zoho Corporation Private Limited — helpdesk, CRM and accounting, and the provider behind our WhatsApp care line (India and USA).
  • Microsoft Corporation — our business email (India and USA).

When we act on a deletion request, we delete the data these providers hold for us in the systems we control, or instruct them to delete it, except where a record must be kept for tax, legal or dispute reasons. Some providers also keep their own operational or inference logs under their own policies, and those are not ours to delete. Data may be processed outside India by the providers marked USA above.

Other companies are involved in delivering the service and keep their own records — for example the platform that hosts our online store, the courier that delivers your order, the review platform where a public review is posted, and Meta, which carries WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram messages. We pass your request on where we can; their records are governed by their own policies, as described in the retention section above.

amiciSmart app

amiciSmart, published on Google Play by Amicikart Online Services Private Limited, has its own account, separate from anything else in this policy. You do not need to sign in anywhere, and you do not need to install or reinstall the app, to ask us to delete an amiciSmart account.

Delete your entire amiciSmart account and all associated data

  1. From the mobile number or email address registered to your account, send an email to care@amicikart.com.
  2. Use the subject line "Delete my amiciSmart account".
  3. Include the mobile number and/or email address registered to the account so we can verify the request.

To protect your account from unauthorised deletion, we verify that the request comes from the account holder. We acknowledge within 2 working days and delete the account within 30 days of verifying the request, then confirm by email. This is permanent deletion, not a temporary deactivation, freeze or pause — once the account is deleted it cannot be restored, and you would need to create a new account and set your devices up again.

What is deleted with an amiciSmart account

  • your profile (name, mobile number, email address);
  • all homes, rooms, devices, scenes and automations you own;
  • device state, activity and usage history tied to your account;
  • your push-notification tokens and in-app notification history; and
  • support and consent records tied to your account.

Before you ask us to delete an amiciSmart account

If you own a home that other people share, deleting your account also removes that home and its devices for them — please tell them first. If you have an open support request about a device, tell us and we will help you close it before deleting.

Delete only some amiciSmart data, without closing the account

  • Delete a device — in the app, open the device, then the options menu (three dots), then Delete device. This removes the device and its cloud records (state, history and configuration).
  • Delete a home you own — in the app, go to Profile, then the home, then Manage home, then Delete home, after removing its devices.

You can also ask us to delete specific amiciSmart data by email, using the address and subject line above and telling us exactly what you want removed.

Deleting your amiciSmart account does not delete data we hold because you shopped at amicikart.com or messaged our care line. Use the steps at the start of this section for that. See also our amiciSmart Privacy Policy.

Your rights under India's DPDP Act, 2023

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights over your personal data. These include the right to ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it, the right to have it corrected, completed or updated, the right to have it erased, the right to withdraw consent you previously gave us, the right to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or are unable to act, and the right to a grievance redressal process. This section is how you exercise the erasure right with us. This is a plain summary and not legal advice.
